Target Training Heart Rate

Problem 2- Determine the resting heart rate given the target heart rate and training goal.

What is the resting heart rate of a 60 year old man whose heart rate is 124 bpm when training at 55%?

Recall that the maximum heart rate (HRmax) is computed as,

HRmax = 220 − A,

the reserve heart rate (HRrsv) is computed as,

HRrsv = HRmaxHRrest,

and the target heart rate (HRtarg) is computed as,

HRtarg = p · HRrsv + HRrest.

A.

36 bpm

B.

88 bpm

C.
