Points that lie on the x-axis have y-coordinate equal to zero. We can find where y = -x - 6 by setting the y-coordinate equal to zero. In this case, setting y = 0 yields,

0 = -x - 6,

and we find x = -6. Therefore, the line intersects the x-axis at the point (-6, 0).
