Participants in the Web Design Workshop will be staying at Coronado Residence Hall on the UA campus.
Coronado has a spacious entry lobby and comfortable sitting areas that open onto patio areas. The decor extends into the casual multipurpose area, which contains a small kitchen, vending area, and seating/TV area adjacent to a large laundry room. Also on the main floor is a game room with pool and ping pong tables.
Standard double rooms are arranged "suite-style." Suites are comprised of two independent double rooms which share a small connecting bathroom equipped with a shower, toilet and sink/vanity (suite floor plan). Adjoining suites are single sex, and all participants will be located on the same floor. Each floor has a central lounge for group gatherings.
Check-in and Check-out times
Coronado residence hall has a 24 hour desk, so you can check in anytime on the 14th (that's a Sunday). The workshop begins at 8:30 Monday morning, and ends at 3:30 Saturday the 20th. Check-out time at Coronado is by noon on Sunday the 21st (which is also Father's Day).
Internet Access from the DormFood
The residence hall is wired for ethernet, if you'd like to bring your laptop computer. To get your machine set up with the network, email Denice the ethernet address. (This is a unique 12-digit hexadecimal (1-F) number that looks something like 0260.8C3B.7A21. Because it is unique, it is what identifies your computer on the network.) Coronado residence hall is a short walking distance from the Chemistry & Biology Sciences Teaching Building where the workshop will take place. There are many places to eat nearby, including:
Coffee will be ready every morning at 8:00 in the room adjacent to the Biology Learning Center. Midmorning and midafternoon cold drinks and munchies will also be provided.Transportation Workshop participants will not need cars--workshop staff will meet participants at the airport and everything they'll need during their stay is within walking distance. If you do plan to bring or rent a car, please contact workshop instructor Madeleine Lapointe at lapointe@u.arizona.edu or 520-626-4909 so she can arrange for parking. Plane fares into Phoenix are sometimes substantially lower than Tucson. There is a shuttle that runs between Phoenix and Tucson every hour, on the hour. The driving time is 2 hours and it drops off and picks up right by the University campus in Tucson. Arizona Shuttle's phone number is 520-795-6771, and the cost is $40, round trip. Campus Recreation CenterGuest Passes to the Campus Recreation Center are available for workshop participants. (The pool is especially inviting during June--bring your swimsuit if you're interested.) Participants can purchase a guest pass for $20.00 that will be good for your entire stay. Passes can be purchased on the second floor counter of the rec center. The office will have a list of workshop participants. Payment may be made by cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard. The WeatherTucson in June is a little hot, with highs hovering around 100 deg F. The good news is that humidity is very low, and all of the workshop activities will take place in air-conditioned rooms. We recommend that you:
