Evolutionary Biology at The Biology Project

Selection - Mutation - Drift

Introduction

Now add natural selection. In this activity, you will extend what you know about evolution by incorporating selection.

This simulation adds Selection to the simulation of Mutation and Drift. The worm populations that demonstrated the effects of mutation and drift will now experience a combination of selection, mutation, and drift.

Remember: The three major forces of evolution are mutation, selection, and random genetic drift. These forces cause changes in genotypes and phenotypes over time, and also determine the amount and kind of variation seen in a population.
