DNA Forensics Problem Set 2
Problem 5: Alleles in a single-locus probe
How many different alleles can be detected per heterozygous individual with a specific single-locus probe in DNA fingerprint analysis?
Two different alleles can be detected, one of each copy of the chromosome of interest. One allele is inherited from mother and one from father. If the maternal and paternal alleles are the same, only one allele will be detected.
E. 2 per chromosome
