Looking for landmarks
When looking at medical images, first try to orient yourself to familiar anatomical landmarks.

The outline of this slice clearly shows a person's profile. Notice the shape of the nose and lips on the left side of the image, and the rounded back of the head on the right side. Also notice the lack of other external landmarks, such as the ears.
