1999 Webby Award Nomination
This prestigious recognition, bestowed by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, brought world-wide attention to The Biology Project, one of the University of Arizona's core RAIRE-supported organizations. The nomination for "Best Science Site" has placed The Biology Project among the ranks of NASA, The Exploratorium, and Scientific American as one of the top science-related source materials on the internet. The awards ceremony will be held on March 18, 1999.
Presentations at meetings and in the community
AAAS SWARM Regional Mtg. May 16 - 21
Students from the UBRP and BRAVO! undergraduate research programs presented posters, and The Biology Project/Biology Learning Center held a short web design workshop. Three student presenters received recognition at the awards banquet.
Publications and Publicity
Math Awareness Bookmark April 26 - May 1
As part of Math Awareness Week '98, The Math Across the Curriculum Coalition developed a press release, a series of informative brochures, and a bookmark for city-wide distribution. Bookmarks were also sent to the National Math Awareness Week Headquarters at Swarthmore College, and were distibuted at the 1998 SWARM Meeting of the AAAS in Grand Junction Colorado.

On-campus workshops for faculty, staff,and administrators from other institutions
The Biology Project Workshop
June 15 - 21, The Biology Project and the UA RAIRE award hosted a 6-day intensive web design workshop, with an emphasis on creating usable, engaging online learning materials in biology. Participants in attendance represented a wide variety of institutions, both private and public, from Washington University at Saint Louis to SUNY at Stony Brook. All eleven project contributions were archived in CD format and were distributed to participating institutions.
